Meet Buster boy. We received this plea from Pasco County Animal Services last week and our hearts shattered. No rescue stepped up and we had the update Buster and Cornelius, the senior boy were still in dire need…well we rescued both and they BOTH still need separate foster homes!
“Buster (A41159722)- Buster is an intact male Mixed Breed, he weighs 44 pounds and is estimated to be 1 year of age. Buster arrived to the shelter just last evening, he is suffering from a severe skin condition. Buster presents full body hair loss with thick crusts and scabs. A skin scrape has been performed, results appear to be negative for mange but further diagnostics are recommended to completely rule out. Buster has tested negative for heartworm and will receive his core vaccines prior to departure, neuter procedure and microchip may be offered after skin condition is resolved.”
Buster’s story is another animal cruelty case where he actually had an owner and a neighbor reported his horrific condition to PCAS where an investigation ensued and the owner relinquished him. There is absolutely NO EXCUSE to allow your animal to suffer like this. If you can’t afford treatment reach out to people or worst case give up your dog but don’t let them suffer for months or years!!!
Buster has a long way to go but as you know we have had many of these cases – Scarlett, Rourke and Rouge (prior names) are just a few that came in to our rescue so damaged, no fur, crusted and made remarkable recoveries with love, vetting and the care of their fosters and adopters. He is being treated on the mange protocol despite the prior negative tests.
Buster is in a foster home healing and getting lots of love!
If you can be Buster’s buddy please complete an adoption application at www.maxxandme.org! Buster will be neutered when medically appropriate, he is up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. His adoption donation is only $250.
