Betsy 🇧🇸 is a 3 year old, 58 pound golden mix.
The hardest part of the day was failing.
Failing to get Betsy comfortable enough to be bathed. Failing to get Betsy comfortable enough to walk out of her carrier after transport from the boarding facility. Failing to even have Betsy seen by a doctor today because she was just.too.scared. I pet Betsy. I even carried her. But I couldn’t bring myself to push her past her limits to the degree i did the others.

Only two of the dogs that came to us today were mothers previously. One nursed multiple litters at the same time with a smile on her face. The other, to our knowledge, had two babies ever, both of whom were equally terrified in our presence. Children learn what they live.

Betsy needs patience and understanding. She needs it now, she needs it forever. She’s not had it.

We don’t have any pictures of Betsy from today because documenting terror and sheer concern for well-being just isn’t my style. So here are “before pics” of this gorgeous girl from Chella’s sanctuary in the Bahamas. She’s clearly happy there. She will also be happy here. She just needs a minute.
If you can foster or adopt Betsy please fill out an application on She will be spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. Her adoption donation is only $250.
