Bentley – please read bio
Bentley is an approximately 3-year-old 20 lb. beagle mix who was rescued from a hoarder situation. He MUST have a secure fenced in yard, another dog around his size to provide friendship and comfort, and an adopter who is not gone all day at work. NO children as Bentley prefers a quiet home. Please continue to read below for more info…..
He is slowly being exposed to all the things he missed in his early years. He enjoys his twice daily walks to check out the neighborhood but at times gets spooked so needs a confident and dog savvy owner to not drop his leash. He aims to please and knows some basic commands. He is smart and thrives on routine where he can understand what’s expected of him; and he responds best to a gentle touch and soft voice. His favorite thing in the world is to sleep in a human bed at night where he comes alive and chews on toys, rolls around, and acts like a playful puppy before snuggling up to his person and sleeping soundly through the night. He has a healthy appetite and enjoys treats. His foster mom has never heard him bark even when other dogs in the house bark to sound the alarm. He does whine a little when he gets excited hearing his meals being prepared or when he wants to go outside to use the bathroom. He gets along extremely well with other dogs, and he has shown the ability to play nicely with frolicking puppies who are not overly aggressive or he can sleep like the old guys; but Bentley would be described as a lower energy dog. Bentley does not play with toys other than in bed, and he does not like to be crated. He is house trained and will need a midday bathroom break. He has shown no destructive tendencies when left alone unconfined in the house. His ideal adopter will be gentle, patient, soft-spoken, loving, and understand that it will take time for Bentley to learn to trust and gain confidence to move past his fears and settle into a new environment and routine. In return it is one of the most rewarding undertakings in life to help a gentle, mistreated dog like Bentley develop to his full potential and to receive his unwavering gratitude and devotion in return. A calm and quiet home with a fenced yard, another dog under 25 lbs. who is not aggressive, and someone who is home most of the time would be the perfect permanent home for Bentley. Bentley is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and has had a recent dental. His adoption donation is $300. Applications can be found at www.maxxandme.org.
