Lorelei is about a year old, 40 pound bull dog/lab mix. Our Lorelei has had a roller coaster of the last few months. As part of a massive 11-dog transport from Georgia, she was the actual Momma to Baby Rory and the “acting Momma” to every other puppy on the transport. Despite having little to no milk left, every pup attempted to nurse from her and she patiently and dedicatedly let them. Lorelei was found to be heartworm positive. Upon being given her first routine dose of monthly medication for heartworm preventative, her body revolted. The dying microfilaria caused her to have seizures! It’s a rare response… with the dedication and devotion of her foster and the commitment of our vets to figuring her out, we have now discovered Lorelei just needs a five day course of steroids coinciding with her monthly Med and she does perfectly fine taking them now! She’s had skin issues we addressed, Urinary issues, vaginitis… it seemed at every turn was another hurdle for our girl.
In between all these medical marvels, Lorelei learned about the good life. She vacationed in the mountains with her foster family. She went to breweries and had weekend outings with her foster momma. She met lots of folks who instantly fell in love with her. She learned to play, to enjoy the freedom of a yard and the joy of a long walk. She learned to love by being loved.
It’s time. Lorelei is ready for her forever home. She’s doing wonderfully going through her heartworm treatment via the slow kill method with the steroid addition monthly. She has lived in a home with three small dogs and done phenomenally well. She’s besties with the little chi-mix girl in her her foster home.
In her forever, Lorelei would like soemone to continue to broaden her horizons with experiences. She also needs a sweet, playful pup to be her friend.
Lorelei is spayed up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. Adoption donation is $250.
