Meet Patches! She came from a high kill shelter with her brother Corduroy. In every way we are impressed by these babies: their Heeler intelligence means they learn quickly, aim to please, wow you with what they can understand and figure out, their breed characteristics are so strong – they DO nip heels and want everyone together, they have the MOST adorable smiles, they look you right in the eye when you address them, they are simply charming. However, it’s imperative both Patches & Corduroy go to homes with experience with HIGHLY intelligent / working dogs. It would be irresponsible and a disservice to them for us to place these babies into homes where they are misunderstood, under exercised, potentially bored and therefore destructive. They will need families committed to their mental stimulation and giving them a job – be it nose work or fly ball or agility, actually helping to work a farm, there are so many options. They will need daily exercise in addition to make sure their athletic frames stay in good shape and they aren’t pent up with energy. They absolutely love children but will develop stronger instincts to herd as they grow so toddlers are likely not the best idea. Older kids who can be involved with their training would be GREAT! They will require a fenced yard and another doggy buddy; Patches prefers the speed of adult, balanced dogs as she identifies as a “big kid” already, Corduroy is a rough and tumble BOY who will wrestle anyone at any time for any reason, then when he’s tired, he LOVES to be held and snuggled. This breed can sometimes feel aloof as they’re head strong and get their own ideas about what to do next or which corner of the yard needs to be explored… but they are also fiercely loyal companions who will WORK for their people in whatever capacity they’re asked to. Patches & Corduroy have a couple weeks left before they’re spayed / neutered and boostered again. At that time they will be available to go to their forever homes. We are now accepting applications for them and will pre-approve families in anticipation of their adoption. These can be submitted @

Patches will be spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. Her adoption donation is only $350! As with all puppies adopted through Maxx & Me, her adopter will need to commit to continue working with a positive reinforcement trainer of their choice to help her continue to become a well mannered and confident girl.
