Fievel & Annie were the only living siblings in a litter discovered after their momma was hit and killed by a car. Once we secured them here with us, we noticed Fievel had an awkward gait. He was capable, just… not quite right, somehow.
Turns out Fievel was born without a groove in which his knee cap would fit. His bone behind his patella was flat and grooveless so his leg didn’t function properly.
Several weeks ago, when he was neutered, he knee was also FIXED. Dr West created the groove so the knee cap could fit in place and rest and recovery began… snuggles included ice pack compresses. While sister got to take walks, Fievel had to stay home… but the effort put forth by his foster family was worth it. Fievel now has a PERFECT gait! He can walk without hitching his leg, he can even run! As he continues to heal, it will be like the whole thing never even happened.
That’s the entirety of their lives until now… things they want to move past and must overcome. That’s been our job: to keep them safe, heal their bodies, and help them grow past their painful beginning.
Fievel & Annie are ready to find their forever homes (not together) and continue writing the story of their lives. Stories filled with happiness and adventure, squirrels and snuggles, and all the amazing things they can’t even fathom yet; A story of resiliency.
