Meet Max!

Max is currently looking for an active retirement home or young people to help bring put the spring back in his step. He needs a foster home as soon as possible. He is an XL dog who has had all of his veterinary care completed and lost about 15lbs and is now at a healthy weight around 110-115lbs.

This sweet, kind soul is an 11 year old mixed breed dog (with a boxer-like face) who lost his family. After being with one family for about 8 years of his life, his mom sadly passed away and his dad sold the house and decided that if someone did not pick up Max, he would simply shoot him because he had to go. We were horrified and rushed to help.

He has been in a foster home, but their schedules have gotten busier and his needs have changed. He now needs someone home often and someone that will push him to get out and walk, keep his bones moving and bring back his zest for life. Max looks and seems depressed.

We do not have information on Max with other dogs, but we think he would be fine with older, calm, low key dogs who will not jump on him. Maybe another dog would even help him to get out and walk. However, Max LOVES kitties! He will cuddle with the cats and kittens and is incredibly gentle with them. It is the most heartwarming sight.

We are looking for an immediate foster home, or better yet a FOREVER HOME, for our sweet Max. A single story home or one with the master bedroom on the first floor so that he is not excluded and with someone home often would be ideal. Cats and Kittens welcome!

If you can open your home to Max, please send us a foster or adoption application at

He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, microchipped, heartworm negative and on monthly prevention. His adoption donation is $300.
