Maxx and Me | Foster Contract

AS A FOSTER I UNDERSTAND that while the rescue dog(s) are in my possession as a foster that I (we) as fosters are fully liable for the dog(s) in our control and possession when walking them, taking them to their home or other location. The foster assumes all responsibility for the Maxx & Me Pet Rescue dog and any other dog that comes into contact with our rescue dog while you are in possession of the rescue animal.

I agree to not under any circumstances have the Maxx & Me Pet Rescue dog interact with any other dogs while taking the dogs out on walks or when in the foster’s possession for the protection of all parties and dog(s) involved.

I agree to notify Maxx & Me immediately about any issues with health or behavior my foster dog may be having.

I WILL NOT bring our rescue dog to a dog park of any kind. With pre-approval from the board and depending on the specific dog's temperament and health, The Dog Bar in St Petersburg is an exception to this rule.

I will return the dog to the appropriate foster, boarding, vet or where the animal is being temporarily housed at the end of the foster time that has been agreed upon by the Maxx & Me Pet Rescue founder and/or board. Maxx & Me can remove a dog from foster for any reason deemed necessary for the safety of our rescue dogs.

I UNDERSTAND THAT A FOSTER DOG CAN ONLY BE ADOPTED TO A PERSON(S) WHO HAS COMPLETED A MAXX & ME PET RESCUE APPLICATION AND HAS BEEN APPROVED BY A MAXX & ME DIRECTOR. IF I KNOW OF SOMEBODY INTERESTED IN ADOPTING MY FOSTER DOG, I AGREE TO HAVE THEM COMPLETE AN APPLICATION AND WILL REFER THEM TO THE DIRECTOR OF MAXX & ME. I agree that any foster dog(s) in my care will be crated or gated in a safe area of the home while unattended. However, it is up to the foster family to determine, due to the dog’s level of socialization and non-destructive behavior, whether to keep the dog in a crate at all times or not at the discretion of the foster understanding Maxx & Me Pet Rescue is not responsible for any damage that occurs while in foster’s possession.

I agree that no foster dog(s) are to be kept in a non air-conditioned or poorly ventilated area or outside unattended.

I agree that foster dog(s) are to have water available to them at all times and fed no less than twice daily, unless advised to do so by a veterinarian.

I agree that foster dog(s) are only to be let outside in a fully fenced yard or walked on a leash. Foster dog(s) are not to be staked out or attached to a wire run in a yard. Foster dogs, which are crated, should be walked and/or exercised several times a day.

I agree not to take a foster dog in my care off-leash in any area that is not securely fenced in.

I understand that fostering a rescue dog can be challenging, as their level of training is unknown. Maxx & Me cannot anticipate nor will be held responsible for unexpected conduct of an animal that may result in destructive behavior and/or temperament issues including biting.

I agree that it is my responsibility to supply food and any other items of choice to make the foster dog feel comfortable, happy and welcomed.

I agree that as the foster person(s), I am responsible for bringing the dog to any needed veterinary visits. Maxx & Me will cover the cost for ONLY those visits which have been pre-approved by Maxx & Me.

I understand that many illnesses can be and are contagious between animals. Maxx & Me will ONLY cover the medical costs for a foster dog. No other dogs in the household.

I understand that all foster dogs must be maintained on a monthly heartworm and flea preventative which will be provided by Maxx & Me.

I acknowledge that Maxx & Me is the legal owner of any dog in its foster care program until such a time as the dog is legally adopted and ownership is transferred to a person(s) approved by the director of Maxx & Me.

I agree to return any foster dog in my custody to a Maxx & Me director within 24 hours of a director of Maxx & Me making a request for the return. I understand that failure to do so will result in charges filed with the State Attorney’s Office.

I understand that a foster person(s) may request to return a foster dog but depending on the size, breed, temperament, and available space with another foster, it may not be possible to accommodate the request immediately. Maxx & Me Inc. will work amongst its volunteers to try and find another suitable foster.

I understand that if I choose to adopt the dog being fostered, the proper Maxx & Me, Inc. adoption guidelines will be followed.

I understand that I must make every effort to bring the foster dog to each adoption event scheduled. Exposure is critical for the dog to be successfully adopted. Maxx & Me, Inc. dogs are shown at different pet venues on Saturdays and/or Sundays. Maxx & Me makes an effort to give as much advanced notice of any adoption event as possible.

A dog(s) can only be accepted into Maxx & Me’s foster program by the Maxx & Me director.

While I am allowed to post adoption information on my personal Facebook or Instagram page, I will not post the dog on Craig’s List, Ebay classifieds or any other free posting service. Any violation of this clause will mean the immediate termination of this contract and the dog will be returned to a Maxx & Me representative.

I will not participate in any criminal activity and should there be criminal charges brought up against me, I certify that such criminal activity will not occur under the name of Maxx & Me or while I am acting as an agent or volunteer under the name of Maxx & Me.

I will notify Maxx & Me immediately if I am fostering/adopting a dog from another agency while in possession of a Maxx & Me foster and am aware I may be asked to return my foster dog if I bring in another animal to my home.

I agree as a foster for this rescue dog(s) that I am fully liable for the dog and release any/all liability from Maxx & Me Pet Rescue, its founder and board. It is imperative that I use any/all due diligence when this dog is in my care and at all times that the dog will be supervised.

Foster Contract

Our most important concern is that any foster dog(s) is/are treated as a member of your family and provided the same love and attention you provide your own pets!
